As New Year traditions go, it's as classic as signing up to the local gym and resigning yourself to a vacant month with empty pockets. So rejoice then for the return of fierce panda's annual PANDAMONIUM hoedown, the budget-priced pocket-sized furry-eared urban event which dares to put on gigs where sane promoters fear to tread, i.e. between January 7th and 10th 2014, in a brazen attempt to kick-start the gigging calendar. Retox, not detox - that's the motto. And the third evening is a special fierce panda-themed presentation which looks very much like this...

TOM HICKOX (onstage 9.45pm) is a man from North London with a serious head on strong young shoulders. Compared on the odd occasion to Nick Cave and Scott Walker, his is a world of slow-moving melodies and mournfully outraged orchestrations, as captured in wholesome depth on imminent album 'War, Peace And Diplomacy', released on fierce panda on February 24th.

THE HOSTS (onstage 9.00pm) are from Sheffield and make retromantically-inclined rock/pop noises with waistcoats and a thoroughly tasteful blend of guitars and keyboards. Their lavishly-played, lovingly made single 'September Song' perked up 6 Music and Radio 2 a few months back and the loooooong-awaited debut album 'Softly, Softly' is due to see the blight of day on February 10th 2014.

I AM IN LOVE (onstage 8.15pm) are three boys and two girls from Manor House who can pull as many panting punters in Leipzig as they can in Leicester thanks to a smart continental work ethic and some even smarter tunes: think smashing early '80s Smash Hits-style synthpop injected with a galloping dollop of DFA’s DNA and expect a single, 'Proposal', on Label Fandango / fierce panda on March 3rd.
