** TIBETAN NIGHT TERRORS + TUNDRA + RUBBER JAW + GOLDBLUME COME OUT TO PLAY SHOWS ACROSS THE EAST! **
Good news, local music lovers! A brand new gigging venture is launching in the far East of England with four admirably fresh alt.rock acts – Tibetan Night Terrors + Tundra + Rubber Jaw + Goldblume – playing a mini-tour which crashlands into four key live venues across the region in November under the banner of Off The Beaten Track.
Propelled forth by the brains behind Oddbox Promotions in Norwich and fierce panda records in Suffolk, the Off The Beaten Track concept is a bold attempt to link together the legions of musicians and live venues spread across the East Anglian area, from Bury to Bungay, from Horningsea to Southend-on-Sea.
If the name gently mocks public mis-conception of the region's fertile live music scene then the tour idea is sensationally simple: Off The Beaten Track is a mini-tour across the four counties of Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex with each county providing one fine venue and one favoured act – chosen by that local venue - for each mini-tour. The acts are all up-and-coming and quite possibly pillars of their sonic community. The bills will rotate through the mini-tour, with each band headlining their own local venue and sharing support slots on the other shows.
And so it is that for the inaugural Off The Beaten Track tour in November 2019 Tibetan Night Terrors are the folk from Norfolk, Tundra represent Suffolk, Rubber Jaw bring joy to Essex and Goldblume shine on in Cambridgeshire. To wrap the whole venture up all four acts will play a special bonus show at the Old Blue Last in Shoreditch – the closest London venue to Liverpool Street train station, gateway to the East. The confirmed dates look like this:
OFF THE BEATEN TRACK #1
November 7th NORWICH ARTS CENTRE (Tibetan Night Terrors headline)
November 8th STOWMARKET JOHN PEEL CENTRE (Tundra headline)
November 15th COLCHESTER CODA (Rubber Jaw headline)
November 17th CAMBRIDGE BLUE MOON (Goldblume headline)
December 6th LONDON SHOREDITCH OLD BLUE LAST (in association with Club Fandango)
Recent regional success stories such as Let's Eat Grandma from Norwich, Lonely The Brave from the lonely Fens, Chelmsford’s Ratboy and of course some bloke called Edward from Framlingham prove that there is a splendidly wide range of talent from the bottom to the top end of the M11 and beyond the back of beyond just waiting to be nourished and encouraged.
To add to the general Off The Beaten Track fun Stowmarket-based indie label fierce panda will release an EP - wisely called 'Off The Beaten Tracks' - featuring all four impressively up-and-coming acts to coincide. Indeed, the four chosen acts are so impressively up-and-coming by some manic coincidence they have all been handpicked to perform at the first Wild Paths Festival in Norwich, with their slots slotting into place like this:
Saturday October 19th
Goldblume (16.15 – 16.50) Last Pub Standing
Tundra (18.50 – 19.30) Karma Kafe
Sunday October 20th
Tibetan Night Terrors (15.40 – 16.15) Bermuda Bob’s Hi-Fi
Rubber Jaw (20.05 – 20.45) Last Pub Standing
