BEN SHERMAN PRESENTS 'BEST OF THE FESTIVALS' - TOURING THE UK IN OCTOBER

The Big British sound gigs are a celebration of British music and style, a nod to the renaissance of the most influential British music genres of the past five decades that have inspired a new generation of rock, punk, ska and Britpop and synonymous with the Ben Sherman brand throughout the past 45 years.

4th October, Bucks Students' Union
PETE & THE PIRATES
+ The Wave Pictures + Tim Ten Yen + Special Guests

Sprouting from the fertile pastures of Reading, Pete and The Pirates are a misfit gang of five friends wonderfully out of step with all other bands and scenes. Together, they produce music which is raw, joyous, melancholic, raucous and tender.

The band's debut album, Little Death, met across the board critical acclaim upon its release in February and is further proof that Pete and the Pirates can create a collection of timeless, near perfect pop songs. Pete and the Pirates have been winning over festival audiences nationwide this summer.

"Taming psychedelia and punk into sloppy/pristine DIY pop!" – Pitchfork

9th October, Manchester Academy 3
DAGGERS
+ The Answering Machine + The Ruling Class + Special Guests

Daggers are five Mancunians with a messed-up take on early 80s electro-pop. Daggers treat small club shows as if they were stadiums, and the audience laps it up.

Daggers have taken on board the motif that there is no necessary divide between art and populism, and they're already putting it into practice. Their sound has been widely compared to The Human League and Heaven 17 circa Penthouse and Pavement and their debut single 'Money' earned them huge praise from the music press.

"Money has a rainbow chorus so big and briliant only a packed-out Wembley could do it justice" - NME

"Excellent... a Top 10 hit." - The Guardian

18th October, Birmingham Barfly
LITTLE MAN TATE
+ New Street Adventure + The Twang DJ Set + Special Guests

Like all great bands, Little Man Tate are a gang, possessed with a hedonistic, good time ethos that bonds the four life-long friends together. And from humble, everyday surroundings from their hometown in Sheffield, they make extraordinary music.

2007 saw more sold out touring for the boys with supports with the Stereophonics, a main stage slot at last years Reading and Leeds festival and nationwide tour support with The Twang. Following the band's belting return with new single, 'What Your Boyfriend Said' in June, they are ready to unleash the album Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy on 15th September.

"Little Man Tate: man, we love your band" – NME

"Solid gold indie-disco hits" - The Fly

25th October, 229
THE RAVEONETTES
+ The Displacements + The Bookhouse Boys + Adam Ficek (Babyshambles) DJ Set + Special Guests

The Raveonettes are a Danish rock and roll duo whose music is characterized by close two-part vocal harmonies inspired by The Everly Brothers, coupled with hard-edged electric guitar overlaid with liberal doses of noise. Their sound has been compared to the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain and the Velvet Underground. They released their third album Lust, Lust, Lust in February.

Aside from the sombre heart that lies at the centre of Lust, Lust, Lust, there are tracks that stretch the Raveonettes' sound further than anyone has ever heard. 'Aly Walk With Me' marries the quiet-loud trick to a hypnotizing groove that sounds like the Velvet Underground going hip-hop, meanwhile, 'You Want The Candy' is the band at their most bubblegum.

"Wagner and Foo have refined their 1960s pop-noir pastiche to perfection" - Timesonline
