** DESPERATE JOURNALIST GO BACK TO THEIR ROOTS… **
** …TO PLAY SPECIAL LEXINGTON SHOW ON NOVEMBER 17TH! **
** KEITH TOTP BRINGS THE POP-TOPPING SUPPORT! **

Continuing the relentless fierce panda 25th anniversary theme we are delighted to announce that intense neogoth groovesters DESPERATE JOURNALIST are playing a very special intimate birthday show at The Lexington on that there Pentonville Road. This venue holds a special place in the panda’s heart because ‘twas here that we stumbled across the youthful quartet supporting Six By Seven on July 24th 2013. Very good they were too, and they made a glorious return to headline The Lexington themselves eighteen months later.

Six years, three massively-acclaimed albums, two exuberant EPs and a litany of capital headline shows in the capital (cf The Scala, The Dome, Oslo and most recently The Garage) down the line Desperate Journalist are picking up their boots and going right back to their post-punk-rockin’ roots in febrile support of their mesmerising current longplayer ‘In Search Of The Miraculous'.

Support comes from the multi-limbed combo Keith TOTP & His Minor UK Indie Celebrity All-Star Backing Band, who formed at an Art Brut gig in New York City in 2006, after a support band dropped out, and Keith, who had produced Art Brut's first two singles, played some of his songs with members of Art Brut. The band has subsequently featured a rotating line-up of musicians, with two rules - avoiding soundchecks and never having rehearsals. Keith et al have been described variously as "awesome" and "ear cancer", but mostly "awesome".

“’In Search of the Miraculous’ is another brilliant record from the best band in the country whose star is rising. Where do they go from here? The search never ends but the journey is glorious.” - God Is In The TV

“Yet another step up for Desperate Journalist,” (8.5/10) - The Line Of Best Fit

“A rangy and colourful artwork, less insular than what has come before, and testament to its creators’ increasingly fearless outlook.” – The Quietus

“Music that transcends the definitions of any one genre.” (5/5) - The Skinny

“Sometimes, on third albums, there is a sense of all or nothing for bands. They chose all in. This is a post-punk ‘Rumours’. This is the rarest of tightropes walked, where cutting edge meets accessible pop music and is credible.” - Travellers Tunes

“Industriously becoming one of the best indierock bands in the UK.” (5/5) - NARC
