Ice cool retro-rockers THE RAVEONETTES play a special one-off show in London early in 2008 to acknowledge the release of a new single, 'You Want The Candy'. The show looks very much like this:

BBC 6 Music & Club Fandango present:

THE RAVEONETTES (onstage 10.00pm)

+ special guest Ida Maria (onstage 9.15pm)

+ Four Dead In Ohio (8.30pm)

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 15TH 2008 @ LONDON 229 GREAT PORTLAND STREET

doors 8.00pm / advance tickets ¬¨£10.00 from www.ticketweb.co.uk

Proof positive that in these days of corporate uncertainty losing your place at the major label table is no longer the catastrophe it once was THE RAVEONETTES continue to make light of their split with Sony and, more importantly, continue to consist of Sune Rose Wagner (guitar/vocals) and Sharin Foo (guitar/vocals).

The aforementioned 'You Want The Candy' is released on February 25th on 7" and dowload and is the second single to be taken from the duo's third album, the breathlessly titled 'Lust, Lust, Lust' which came out on fierce panda last November to a veritable hailstorm of critical appreciation. If lead-off single 'Dead Sound' caught the band in shadowy mood then 'You Want The Candy' sees the swoonsome twosome really put their foot down and head for the heart of the song - think bubblegum thrills, think jagged indie pills, think the Marychain sawing The Primitives' alterno dancefloor smash 'Crash' in half.

As well as painstakingly perfecting their melodies THE RAVEONETTES have been busy in other areas: they have signed a deal with Vice Records in the States, where 'Lust, Lust, Lust' will be released on February 19th; and a comeback tour saw the minimal live set - now stripped down to just Sune, Sharin and one bold stand-up drummer - dazzling the faithful in Britain in November. The duo will next head off to SXSW and a lengthy US jaunt in the spring, but not before serenading London Town this one more time.

As if a special RAVEONETTES headline show wasn't enough for the kids, support at the 229 comes from Scandinavia's worst kept secret IDA MARIA, a one-woman rocking machine who has been making grown men weep over the past few months with a string of unheralded sold out shows in London - Club Fandango has put on three of them alone - and whose new deal with Sony / BMG (yes we spotted the irony as well...) will surely take her to the mainstream bosom by the summer.

Not only that but stepping up first to the proverbial plate will be the underground thunder-rock machine that is FOUR DEAD IN OHIO, a brand new unsigned quartet who take the big music of The Verve and BRMC and pummel it into submission when they aren't hanging around glowering under the brand new fierce panda management umbrella. A night of classic rock then, in every sense...
