** NATIONAL SERVICE MARCH INTO THE WAITING ROOM 16.07! **
** CALLUNA + UP DOWN GO MACHINE JOIN THE PARADE! **
Intense alt.rock dreamers NATIONAL SERVICE bring their immensely wise and widescreen sound to Stoke Newington on July 16th in hot promotional pursuit of their current single ‘Islander’. Much admired by Steve Lamacq, the hirsute quartet will be joined in battle by comrades Calluna and Up Down Go Machine, as per these words here:

+ UP DOWN GO MACHINE
MONDAY 16 JULY 2018
LONDON THE WAITING ROOM
(175 Stoke Newington High Street, N16 0LH, underneath the Three Crowns)
NATIONAL SERVICE (onstage 9.45pm) are a four piece from London drawing influences from the likes of Interpol, The xx, Radiohead and Grizzly Bear. Radio smashes such as 'A Little More Time' and ‘Timid Kisses’ encapsulate the band’s honest vocals, restless harmonies and brooding hypnotic grooves.
CALLUNA (onstage 9.00pm) is centred upon the creative efforts of Heather Britton, brought to life by her band of collaborators. Calluna brings the raw attack of soaring vocals, chiming angular guitar and euphoric synth resulting in a carnal, emotive live set.
UP DOWN GO MACHINE (onstage 8.15pm) weave punchy but delicate folk melodies around their stripped back, acoustic-led sound. Catchy percussive elements add a rhythmic vibe which propels the sound into something more interactive and energetic. The songs are unashamedly heartfelt and direct, with strong nods to Mumford & Sons and Ben Howard, but never stray too far from their homegrown Celtic roots.
