Well, fierce panda and Club Fandango have joined furces to make the December edition of their monthly Down In The Park new band extravaganza even more extravagant by giving it a seasonal Xmastime twist. So you won’t want to stop the Cavalry, because the Liverpudlian quintet are headlining with esteemed support and mayhap even a mincey wincey pie or two along the way, rather like this…

CAVALRY (onstage 10.45pm) are five deep Scouse souls who have perfected a solemn, swelling sound which has manifested itself in an exemplary live show as well as an excellent new EP called ‘See The Night Perform’, which is out on fierce panda on December 1st.

BURMA TRAIL (onstage 10.00pm) are velvety poets of the emotional shadowlands disguised as a playful four-piece rock band from North London. Singer Joseph Tennant writes with the assurance of a late Eighteenth century aesthete novelist reincarnated as a Hackney bedroom scribbler, and sets his rain-washed reflections amongst beautifully crafted valve rattling riffs and hooks. www.facebook.com/theburmatrail

JOSH ACE (onstage 9.15pm) is a Swansea-born songwriter who tells tales of derailed dreams and dissolute companions with angular guitar hooks and sugar-coated powerpop harmonies, a little bit like a very fruity Lemonheads.

GHOST SUNS (onstage 8.30pm) are a synth-ful boy / girl duo from Muswell Hill-via-France who cook up deft, driving electropop nuggets, as evidenced by their fragrant ‘We Are Not Good People’ EP from earlier this year.

GRAFTON ASH (onstage 87.45pm) are four lads from Bromsgrove in the Middlinglands who lay strong vocal harmonies atop a fusion of acoustic and indeed electronic stylings. Rather excellently, even as we type this they are supporting James ‘Blunty’ Blunt at Bimingham Arena.
