THE HOSTS (onstage 10.00pm) are five men from Sheffield who recently played one of the farewell shows at the Bull & Gate. Their mood fitted perfectly, too: think soberly-dressed chaps in waistcoats mixing the dark flashes of Roy Orbison and Jonathan Fire*Eater with the modern love of Richard Hawley, producer of their spectacular current single 'September Song'.

TEDZED (onstage 9.15pm) comes from the deepest ruralities of Somerset armed with all manner of Kaoss pads, laptops and a Flying V. Recent debut single ‘I Don’t Mind’ displays an unnerving level of cleverness and coolness, being melodic and psychedelic and synthy, perhaps a bit like Klaxons without the nu rave distractions.

FELT TIP (onstage 8.30pm) are good time indie newbies from London Town who are fresh from a Young & Lost show and feeling the positive vibes of a Rory Atwell production session. Think skeletal guitars, neatly-balanced rhythms and wee excitable rushes of melody and come join their tidily shambolic club...
