Wolves And Thieves was released four years, two guitarists and four trillion over-excited blogposts about forty trillion over-excitable new hipster bands ago, on March 15th 2010 in fact. According to yellowing fierce panda press releases from that time, Some of these people have beards and look a little bit like members of ELO circa 1975. This may or may not be significant.

More usefully perhaps we also theorised thusly: The key to Goldheart Assembly could well be that they are music lovers first and wannabe rock stars second. This means that they can be playful, even knockabout in their approach to live shows but in the studio there is fearsomely disciplined side which pays minute attention to the details of the drum sound, the hum of the harmoniesĶthe near-invisible things that the passionate musician dwells upon. The end result is a timeless-sounding but extremely modern rock record which combines that charm and massed harmonies with a mischievous sense of noise and a beguiling way with a massive lighter-waving chorus.

Since those heady, slightly hairy days Goldheart Assembly have moved on to New Music Club records to release the fragrant Long Distance Song Effects album, which features in Sad Sad Stage one of the seven greatest songs of all time. The panda has also moved on too, releasing albums by lunatic tune smiths aplenty, from Goldhearts delectable spiritual West Coast cousins Milo Greene, through the rowdy psychedelics of Dingus Khan and Hey Sholay, and on to the searing metal thrustings of Hawk Eyes.

Crucially, in October last year those nice multi-million-selling Keane boys played a wee show at Tunbridge Wells Forum to celebrate ten years since starting their road to multi-million-sellingness on fierce panda. It seemed to go down well. So well in fact that we thought well, perhaps some other old panda bandas would like to come celebrate with us when we turn 20 years old in 2014? Well, here we are crawling from the wreckage of our teenage years and as well as Goldheart Assemblys Lexington show we will also be having a small paw in springtime gigs by I Like Trains, Melanie Pain, Ultrasound, Hatcham Social and The Crookes as well as a slew of appearances by fresh-faced new arrivals with names like I Am In Love, Desperate Journalist and Felt Tip. Were calling it 20 Years Of Pandamonium because thats what it is, on every levelĶ
