It has been just over one mole-mauling year since Club Fandango took over the booking diary at the Bull & Gate. In that time new nights have been launched with scant regard for public safety, with mybandsbetterthanyourband, wegottickets, PRS, Amazing Radio and Going Deaf For A Living all modelling the promoting beret on a regular basis. One of those new new nights is brought to you by the good burghers at fierce panda records, and that new new night is called Bamboooozled, which is so new we STILL haven’t worked out how many ‘oooo’s should be in it yet. June 2011 saw the kinetic likes of The Kabeedies and Duologue play the opening palaver, July was an ampersand extravanganza with Kurran & The Wolfnotes & Sissy & The Blisters and August we took off because we were sleepy. Now Bamboooozled #3 is upon us and we have invited friends both old and new to the show, and those friends look something like this…

I LIKE TRAINS (onstage 10.00pm)
Club Fandango is currently turning ten years old, and to celebrate this frankly jaw-drooping event we are gently inviting back some of our old fave raves to come play the Bull & Gate over the next few months. I LIKE TRAINS very much fit that fave rave box, bringing their splendidly solemn bloomings to the Dublin Castle back when they were still known as iliketrains and touting the immense melodies of their ‘Progress Reform’ mini-album on fierce panda. Since then the ‘Elegies’ and ‘He Who Saw The Deep’ albums, not to mention the mesmeric ‘The Christmas Tree Ship’ EP, have uncovered more unlikely historical gems and bathed them in a slow-burning sonic glow, and this special low-key anniversary gig warms them up neatly for another tour of Europe’s chillier spaces.

YOUNG LIAR (onstage 9.15pm)
Creeping out of the NorthEast YOUNG LIAR play intelligently glitchy, feverishly twitchy beats interspersed with heroically corrosive guitar-gouging explosions in the sky. They’ve just released their debut EP on Cottage Industries which gets bonus points for a) having a sweetly-titled song ‘A Fist In The Face Of God’ and b) coming with a free badge. Now that’s indie.

KURRAN & THE WOLFNOTES (ACOUSTIC) (onstage 8.30pm)
Regular panda onlookers may care to recall that Kurran & A Wolfnote made a charming appearance at the fierce panda 17th birthday party in April with Goldheart Assembly. This time around Kurran is celebrating the completion of his debut album by bringing the full wolf-themed quota for a night of fiercely emoted alt.folkpop which makes people think of the Decemberists and fellow ampersand enthusiasts Iron & Wine.
