Artist Profile »

Tickets are selling fast for the BAD FOR LAZARUS gig at the Bull & Gate on Friday 1st February.

This rowdy five-piece is a collaboration between ex-members of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, UNKLE and NIN who throw garage rock shapes in the manner of The Stooges. They describe themselves as "a muddle of guitars and vocals strew through a groovy psychedelic wall of delicate, beastly drums and funkadelic keys. A force of sonic nature relying on nothing but five hip shaking bodies to raise minds to the ground."

"An electrifying and in some ways terrifying rock beast that combines all the dirtier and darker elements of rock music over the lasty 40 years into their own warped performance and sound" - The Beat Surrender.

Support comes from GOD DAMN fresh from their appearance at Fierce Panda's PANDAMONIUM at The Bull and Gate as well as EIGHTEEN NIGHTMARES AT THE LUX and ZO?ãTR?òPE

GOD DAMN - 09.45
"Something magnificently evil is stirring in the Black Country. With gargantuan riffs and utterly bestial howls, engorged with the esoteric secrets of an army of effects pedals and pickled in deep blues culture, Wolverhampton’s God Damn represent a unique and thoroughly impressive addition to the UK’s underground music scene." - Musical Mathematics
"A heavy brand of hardcore-infused blues rock that hits like a Mike Tyson right hook. The trio unite blues, punk and metal like a mixture of Pulled Apart By Horses and Kyuss." - Born Music Online

EIGHTEEN NIGHTMARES AT THE LUX - 09.00pm
A London based band who have a sound that marries all that is good in rock 'n' roll; an infectious blend of catchy riffs, banging beats, fuzzy bass and clever changes. Their live event is a pop, cabaret, garagey fusion, if pushed to answer the band describe their sound as ‘Fuzzabilly’.

ZO?ãTR?òPE - 08.15pm
"Armed with a no-frills guitar/bass/drums set up, a bunch of spiky post-punk songs and a devil-may-care attitude in spades, Amy Smith Zoe Grisedale and Hannah Logic bash through songs like ‘Debbie’, ‘Susan’ and ‘Demons’ in a way that shows a charming scant regard for traditional concepts like timing. It’s all a little wonky and at times un-coordinated but spirit and passion always win out over boring technical ability or complexity. ‘Don’t Look At Me’ proves to be a highlight of their set, the 3 women spitting repeatedly “Don’t fucking look at me” into their mics with a playfulness lightly tinged by real vitriol." - www.thegirlsare.com/2012/06/17/review-zoetrope
