Spindle & Wit
Spindle & Wit are five, indie-folk noiseniks, who hail from Bournemouth, Denmark and London to form a heady cocktail, which has taken Blighty by storm. Formed barely a year ago, the band have already formed a huge fanbase – which even includes celebrities like Pixie Geldof and Amy Winehouse - and they’ve been showered with praise from NME, The Fly and national papers including The Sun and The Daily Star. And the band has something for everybody. Searing originality, gritty and intelligent lyrics which belie their tender years, foot-stomping hits and moving ballads, as well as violins, banjos, cellos, guitars, drums and buckets of charisma. Big City Redneck Magazine were so impressed, they wrote: “Hot on the heels of Noah & The Whale's success, the baton's ready for Spindle & Wit to take over the commercial folk crown - and closing song Bring Out The Sun could just be the summer anthem we've waited for all year.” The group’s raucous Normandy has been compared to London folk-troubadour Kid Harpoon and their diverse and joyful sets have been likened to The Champions of the World, Jack Green & The Band of Thieves and Kill It Kid. The intrepid five live and breathe their music, quite literally: They all live together in a giant warehouse in fashionable east London, with a permanent rehearsal stage forming the centre of their home. But the time to take their music to the masses has arrived: 2010 is certain to be the year of Spindle & Wit.
