Hk:uk like the difficult option. Instead of writing songs in room together like a normal group, brothers Jay and Harry Armstrong spent weeks emailing various ideas back and forth across the internet from Hong Kong to their fellow bandmates Tim Talbot, John Atkins and Sam George thousands of miles away in the UK. During a fan-voted competition on award-winning social networking website Slice The Pie, the band stood out from hundreds of other artists, utilised their solid fan base and in turn bypassed the need to commit to a label by winning £15,000 worth of funding. This resulted in their debut album produced by Matt Peel (Kaiser Chiefs, Pigeon Detectives and The Sunshine Underground) which is loaded with punchy, upbeat, memorable anthems. Preferring to avoid the predictable but necessary path of appearing in the NME, they were recently featured alongside America‚Äôs ‚Äònext big thing‚Äô Barack Obama in the internationally published magazine News Week, evidence of which is indeed out there. Meanwhile Kerrang accurately observed them as ‚ÄúA tornado of infectious pop-rock melodies‚Äù while they also received an endorsement from Jagermeister, alongside bands such as Bullet For My Valentine and Fightstar. Having built a strong fan base, selling out venues in London and Leeds, the band have also supported and caused various degrees of trouble with The Pigeon Detectives, Elliot Minor and You Me At Six. Demand for material was so high at these shows that a limited run of CD singles were swiftly unleashed, all of which sold out instantly. Currently residing in London, the band are lined up the play at Rock Sound magazine‚Äôs club night in the capital, this will be their first outing for their hosts and is set to be loud, brash and memorable. More dates are being scheduled at present while the band continue their all out assault on the world of rock!!
