Pete Greenwood
Pete Greenwood grew up in Leeds in a house sound-tracked by the likes of Martin Carthy, Simon & Garfunkel and old field recordings of traditional folk songs - it was inevitable that Pete would eventually pick up the guitar. By his early teens, bored by the piano, Pete soon found a use for the old guitar that had been sitting around his house for years and by his late teens he had decamped to London to study music at Goldsmith’s College. Making the move South in 2002, it was only on demand of college course requirements that Pete actually wrote his first song; up until that point he had just seen himself as a guitarist. Reluctant to recognize his undeniable talent, it took some time before Pete accepted his songwriting gift and began performing his own songs. For the past twelve months Pete has primarily been writing and recording his debut album as well as playing guitar and touring with both Mojave 3 and The Loose Salute. A beautiful, emotive and warm record, the 12-track long player ‘Sirens’ will be released on August 25th through Heavenly Recordings. 'Uplifting, sunny melodies & optimistic lullabies for the broken hearted. Greenwood’s future is surely as bright as his songs.' Q. 'Greenwood’s songs sound timeless, tapping into acoustic rock’s all-time greats, with no real hints in his music that it’s 2008.' The Guardian. [PETE GREENWOOD PLAYS ROOM 1]
