Godwits have songs centred around recurring themes of community, religion, history and landscape. Godwits invite the listener into their world, demonstrating a beguiling sense of melody and structure with an intelligence, grace, and wit that is beyond their years. Recently featured on Record of the day, and following up supports to Josh Pyke and Charlotte Hatherley with an outstanding show at this year's In the City Festival, the band are turning heads and swelling hearts wherever they go with music that reflects the contradictions of life - their songs somehow manage to be both intricate and simple, gentle yet powerful, intelligent but never patronising - maintaining the traditions of the best in English songwriting with a modern freshness and vigour.
