The Blackout
The Blackout only last week headlined the Electric Ballroom, not but one minute down Camden Parkway (and spookily that show fell on the same day that Camden Market went up in smoke). The Electric Ballroom show was the result of two years of ferociously hard work which has seen the band release one mini-album ('The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout!'), one full-length album ('We Are The Dynamite!') and bust several guts with shows alongside everyone and anyone, from Give Us A Name in 2006 to Taste Of Chaos alongside Aiden and The Used in 2007. The Taste Of Chaos tour wound up in Brixton Academy last November and far be it from us to suggest that the Blackout stoke the show - we'll let the subsequent reviews in Kerrang!, The Fly and Big Cheese do that dirty work... This particular corner of North London has been kind to THE BLACKOUT's development, too: like any self-respecting up and coming rock band visiting Camden the boys could scarcely resist the allure of playing Subverse, the all-ages Sunday afternoon soiree at the Underworld, while the homely Bar Monsta venue around the corner also played host to an early Gallows / The Blackout face-off. But that was then and this most certainly is now. Indie fans out there may care to note that the Dublin Castle show is part of fierce panda's 14th birthday celebrations. Young rocksters may care to know that the age limit for this gig is a frankly barbaric 18+. The gig also ties in extremely nicely with the fact that Monday February 25th sees the release of their new single 'It's High Tide Baby!', with guest vocals from Lostprophets' very own Zorro-a-like Ian Watkins.
