Rotifer
Rotifer are hard to talk about without dropping a few names, but then they give you a good hint as to what this band sounds like. Their new album, which was produced by Stiff Records legend Wreckless Eric, will be out in November on Edwyn Collins' soon-to-be-launched new label AED Records. And Darren Hayman (formerly of intelligent indie favourites Hefner) plays the bass. Their Viennese-born guitarist and frontman Robert Rotifer writes quirky, but rocking songs about unlikely subjects such as the marine lab in Aberdeen, sad substitute cosmonauts or the first ever built-in kitchen from the 1920s (The Frankfurt Kitchen, for which he painted the video, which btw has been recently bought by MoMA in New York for their collection).
