The Ukrainians
The Ukrainians were originally discovered and pioneered by the legendary BBC Radio DJ John Peel. They have forged a unique path by creating a mixture of Eastern traditional music with Western pop that “blows your trousers off” (NME). Over the last 20 years the band has released a series of critically-acclaimed studio and live albums. Their '20 Years album, released earlier this year, bursts with 20 of the band’s best-loved tracks' from an astonishing two decade career. The tracks sound raw and fresh, as vodka-fuelled fiddles, accordion and mandolins interweave and battle with thrashing drums and zizzy electric guitars.
