The Epstein
The Epstein are an indie folk band from Oxford. The Times described their 2011 EP I Held You Once as 'melodious, acoustic bonhomie' whilst the UK industry journal Music Week proclaimed that 'this band not only builds on the recent success of British folk, but suitably adds to it as well'. I Held You Once was released on the band’s own Zawinul Records in Spring last year and received wide spread praise across the print and online media. Following on from a number of high profile radio sessions including Radio 5 Live, BBC Oxford Introducing & the Bob Harris Show on BBC Radio 2 they had a busy summer and autumn with performances at a number of prestigious festivals in the UK and Europe. 2011 saw the band perform in the UK, Belgium, France, Holland, Germany and Ireland, garnering great reviews for their live show as well as the new release.

It is no lie that this band is something special. 6 months after Olly Wills and Jon Berry formed The Epstein they had been invited to play at Glastonbury after winning the ‘Best Emerging Talent 2007’ and this was without any music officially released at all! The band’s debut was then made ‘Album Of The Week’ by Huw Stevens on BBC Radio 1 and subsequently they were back at Glastonbury again in 2008.
