Orphan Code
Orphan Code went to America with the intention of touring for six months but ended up staying for three years, making many friends along the way and recording an album with Barrett Martin from Seattle rockers The Screaming Trees producing, and Rob OrphanCode’s dreams came true when REM axeman Peter Buck decided to pop into the studio and lay down some guitar. A few months later in Austin, Texas, he would actually jump up on stage with them and play... whilst they shouted the chord changes to him! Along this journey, the Dublin band gave a free roof-top performance in up-state new York (heard that before), slid backwards down Red Rocks in Colorado in their van and trailor in the snow (prayers were said), had a film crew join them on all these adventures, and in typical rock fashion, they even had a major illness whilst on the road... Pericarditis anyone? Then their quartet became a trio, and they came home. The three of them formed OrphanCode. They made a demo, it got heard by a label, and they put them into the studio to make an album, with long time collaborator, Ger McDonnell (The Cure, Manic Street Preachers) producing.
