Vanilla Swingers is a London-based duo whose time travel themed debut album has attracted critical adulation ("the most exciting band of the year", "this album is a gem", "4REAL in the same way Richey Edwards once was") as well as comparisons with Black Box Recorder and Magnetic Fields. The album, also called Vanilla Swingers, tells a story of two people who meet in 2005, go back in time to 1985, lose each other, then meet again in 2015. The story's themes include post-humanist politics, romantic love and the urge to escape one's confines, whether geographical, self-imposed or due to the laws of physics.
