The Backstory: Once upon a moonbeam, in March 2001, Club Fandango gently hurled itself into the gig circuit limelight on a Tuesday night at the Dublin Castle in Camden Town. After eight and half years, over 400 shows and several dozen hangovers later Club Fandango said farewell to the Dublin Castle on September 8th 2009 and is now launching a mighty pawful of new nights across North London in October.
The first of these new ventures kicks off on October 1st Upstairs at the Relentless Garage in Highbury. This Fandango event will take place on the first Thursday of each and every month, and the opening night features a stellar line-up of Fandango friends old, new and a bit older, rather like this:

DYNAMO GARAGE (onstage 10.00pm), it has occasionally been noted in the past, “consist of five raffish young men based in North London who make considered and indeed considerate guitar-based noises which are subtle and spacious and thoroughly twinkly”. What most probably hasn’t been typed before is that while the shirts may be frilly their guitars are thrillingly intricate. Top marks also to all involved for making sure we have a band called Dynamo Garage play our opening night at this venue. www.myspace.com/dynamogarage

CAPITAL (onstage 9.15pm) are five fearless synthpop dreamers from Eastbourne whose summer was enlivened by an appearance at Latitude, the release of their splendid ‘Days & Nights Of Love & War’ mini-album and a thoroughly well received touring trek in the company of Athlete. The heroic quintet have spent much of their spare time holed away in a seaside studio recording their debut full-length album, which judging by sneak fierce panda previews sounds like a  tornado of towering keyboards and power-crazed choruses blowing through the shattered windows of your mind. And stuff. www.myspace.com/capitalmyspace

WE GOT WIRES (onstage 8.30pm) are from Liverpool and say they use lots of “things” to make music, like guitars and keyboards and voices and general honest-to-goodness gadgetry. The end result is a mix of despairing pop, bendy soul and crunchy electrorock which reaches cheerily for the stars. www.myspace.com/wegotwires

JAC JONES (onstage at 7.45pm) are a duo armed with lush melodies and some cool acoustic electro pop songs that at times will stay in your head long after the show. www.myspace.com/jacjonessongs
