SEAN GRANT & THE WOLFGANG (onstage 10pm) Having already released their debut 'We The Working Class' EP previously in 2014, Sean and his band have once again delved deep to pick out narratives inspired by the past, yet important to today, with the brand new ‘War Machines’ EP opener 'War Machine', which is inspired by The Codebreakers of Bletchley Park who helped decipher Nazi codes during World War II.

It fits, too, as the Wolfgang world is a bawdy one of beards and braces, one where modern fears and traces of the past are lashed together in a lovably caustic contemporary folk punk rock sound, and whose recent tour took them to the former battlefields of Munich, of Lille, of Maastricht and, of course, The Horn in St Albans. The aforementioned 'We The Working Class' EP meanwhile was described by Vulture Music as "clenched fist, gritted teeth music...not outwardly political, but illustrative of a downtrodden, malcontent society.", while Clash said it "seethes, writhes and rages with a rare intelligence."

BABY BRAVE (onstage 9.15pm) On the evidence of their latest ‘King Horse’ EP out last week, Baby Brave are set to seduce our ears in coming months. They craft summery guitar pop of the exquisite kind, rippling with the ghosts of shoegaze, C86 and mid 80s art-pop; the outer tip of Wales has turned up another group with the ability to glide through genres and produce an individual sound that’s capable of making it out of the principality! It’s typified by the effortlessly besotted jangle of sublime opener ‘Oyonnax’ which shivers giddily with unrequited passion over the playful boy/girl pop signatures redolent of the B-52s and laced with a kick ass guitar lick that has a real bite. In clever French singer Emmi Manteau, they have a voice of grace and might possessing a multi-dimensional quality: sinewy and knowing yet delightfully bittersweet, redolent of the attitude The Long Blondes’ Kate Jackson in one breath and in the next graceful with the weightiness of Kirsty Macoll.

NATIVE SONS (onstage 8.30pm) New London/Brighton trio Native Sons have recently landed with their brilliant debut ‘Humanise’ – a track which introduces the Bullinger brothers and friend Matthew Stefanyszyn through a blast of technical instrumentation and rich harmonies. The song’s bright guitars, reminiscent of Minus The Bear in style, bounce off quick-fire hi-hat work – making ‘Humanise’ an energetic and melodic entity. Though early days for these chaps, they’ve caught the attention of various corners of the internet already; with the ever-on form Killing Moon making the band their Track of the Day recently. Keep an eye on Native Son‘s Facebook page for updates and more info.
