Over the past few years the fierce panda label has been operating its monthly Bamboozled showcase out of the Bull & Gate in sunny Kentish Town. Alas and alacky the Bull & Gate stage is going to be bulldozed to make way for a gastropub – final closing time is May 4th 2013 - so fierce panda is picking up its muddy boots and going back to its East London roots by setting up in the Shacklewell Arms in Dalston on the second Tuesday of each month. The new live project is called - aha - Bamboozled Too, the opening night featured a seductive cameo from Goldheart Assembly and the follow-up looks something like this...

MALPAS (onstage 10.00pm) are from Birmingham and London and make grand, eloquent music with sweeping widescreen melodies and stutteringly off-kilter rhythms. It’s ambitious and, frankly, a little bit delicious and their ‘Where The River Runs’ EP (out now on Killing Moon) displays their chop’n’cut production techniques to mesmeric effect.

THE MACHINE ROOM (onstage 9.15pm) are five dreamers from Edinburgh who specialise in “bewitched pop musings” which are big and shiny and epic and stargazey and not without affectionate nods to a time when New Order and The Associates pointed to a dazzling new dawn. They are releasing a single called ‘Sweden’ on Label Fandango on May 6th which is really excellent news on many levels.

THE VESTALS (onstage 8.30pm) are a fascinating throwback to the moody, melancholic times of the 1980s when The Cure and The Sisters Of Mercy were top of people’s agenda. Funnily enough, it won’t be long before this mysterious – as such for drumming up an air of anonymity – five-piece from South Wales are the same; as despite being on the radar for a matter of months, there’s already quite a buzz about this scuzzy bunch. Which is not surprising given their live show is full of charm and charisma brought by a front man as effortlessly charismatic as the likes of Morrissey and Conor Oberst.
