REPTILE YOUTH - 10:15pm
Reptile Youth are the bastard sons of psychedelic '60s soul, post-punk and synth pop, stirred into a lookbook-approved vodka cocktail of sweaty, high-energy post-modern pop. Smart, but not too clever that they won‘t make you seriously lose your shit watching them live, the band are worshipped by almost every show critic, or indeed gig-goer out there. Reptile Youth is a post-pop/punk duo from Denmark. In 2011 the band expanded with the drummer, Emil Vissing Christiensen, and build up an even bigger hype by playing their intense live show at big festivals and venues as the only band without an actual release.
PAPER CROWS - 9:30pm
Paper Crows come permeated with a collision of opposing elements. Sonically, their electronically-based neo-noir productions are balanced by the soulful, ethereal vocals of Emma Panas. Lyrically, she utilises gothic-inspired phraseology to construct metaphors of real experiences and emotions. When united with the pair’s imagery, the package is dark, playful, fragile and entirely consistent with the imagery hinted at by their name.
PORTASOUND - 8:45pm
Portasound don’t do things by halves. Fusing soaring melodies, driving rhythms and wonky riffs they’ve created a genre bending soundtrack of instrumental electronica to accompany their own fictional narrative. Brace yourselves for a high-speed sonic journey atop a giant synth with the legs of a horse and head of a Minotaur.
Having played shows with the likes of Metronomy, The XX, Friendly Fires and Three Trapped Tigers, the band have recently unleashed their debut EP 'The Second Renaissance' on Blood and Biscuits (Three Trapped Tigers, Tall Ships, Gallops, Sleep Party People).
BLACK HAY - 8pm
A true throw back to the likes of Tom Waits, Bob Dylan and the god father of them all, Johnny Cash. With songwriting akin to Cash’s Personal Jesus and the same dark and melancholic drive of Josh Homme, Black Hay delivers an authentic homage to classic rock and blues. Everything about this guy feels right.
