Hal are back after a short sabbatical. The Dublin 3-piece formed in 2003 and were signed by Geoff Travis to Rough Trade Records in 2004. Their eponymous debut album was produced by Tears for Fearsʼ Ian Stanley, and released to critical acclaim in 2005, producing two UK and Irish top 40 chart hits. In 2007, suffering writers block, singer David Allen quit the band and left Ireland. During this two-year period, he wrote a whole new batch of songs; Stephen, the bandʼs keyboard player, built his own studio, and Daveʼs brother, the bandʼs bass player/backing vocalist Paul, immersed himself in his other great love- photography. And so on Daveʼs return to Ireland, they did just that and began sifting through material to begin work on Halʼs second record. The band spent 2010 & 2011 recording and Spring 2012 will see the band return to the live arena and long-awaited release of second album, ‚ÄúThe Time, The Hour‚Äù.
JONNY DOG- 9pm
Jonny Dog are from North London and play a mixture of folk-indie-rock, laden with vocal harmonies and a cornet thrown in for good measure. They've just finished recording their first EP which will be available at the gig.
