Here's who's playing at the first CKM of Twenty Twelve:

THE OPERATORS (10.15PM)
www.myspace.com/theoperatorsrock

Smooth suburban indie-dance party starters returning with their second segment of the double album, Old School House: Step 2, released on 16th January 2012, which strangely enought follows the brilliantly-received release of Old School House: Step 1 in June 2011.

What KML said about new single 'Tonight': a rather groovy little number, which perhaps would not be that dissimilar to the noise that a resultant love child would make after being spawned forth from the respective love-making bits of Justice and Prince (plus perchance Stardust, if they were conveniently floating about in those areas), should they ever decide to get their shit together and make a little tiny baby all Men style. And, boy oh boy, how great that would be.

GUILTY SLEEP (09.30PM)
www.facebook.com/pages/Guilty-Sleep/330318403664749

A South London post punk/new wave three piece band. Bass, drums, melody. Awkward silences and lots of space articulated with good table manners and knowing smiles. Intuitive grooves with a minimal sound that makes interesting and danceable listening. Hard beats, bouncing bass and clawing guitars. Good times. Guilty Sleep.

STORY BOOKS (08.45PM)
www.storybooksband.com

A six-piece from Kent-via-London. 'Peregrine' was a Killing Moon Limited track of the day in December: [The track] draws on the emotive essences and the songwriting prowess of a number of the more intense folk-pop acts, such as Daughter or Bon Iver, then sombrely lending itself into much more energetic territories all NO-style, all the while laden with smoothing, ethereal vocals that put the listener at ease much in the same way as The Magic Numbers or Alt-J – so, yeah, difficult to describe but wonderful to experience.

NITEFLIGHTS (08.00PM)
www.facebook.com/Niteflights
The perfect band to submerge yourself in. A London indie/pop five piece with a sound somewhere between an updated and more intimate version of Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys and a British Television with a Microkorg, they write musical postcards of rare beauty. From supporting Anna Calvi earlier in the year to having just been tipped by XFM's new music expert, John Kennedy, and scored a feature in December's Dazed & Confused.
