Artist Profile »

Another Club Spangle, another band we're excited to have playing at the Bull & Gate!

Tickets are now on sale to see The Lovely Eggs at the Bull & Gate (with French Wives). The Lovely Eggs are David and Holly. Named after two eggs found in an abandoned nest on Holly's windowsill, the pair started playing together in Paris and performed their first ever gig in New York in 2006. Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq, Rob Da Bank and Tom Robinson are all fans of the band's kooky kitsch avant-garde sound and Marc Riley invited them to perform a live session on his show, as did XFM's John Kennedy as part of Manchester's 'In The City' 2008.

Following on from the success of the 7" EP "Have You Ever Heard the Lovely Eggs?", which came out in October 2008, the band released their debut album If You Were Fruit on Cherryade Records in the UK in June 2009 and wowed fans on a recent tour of the UK.

After the success of their Twin Peaks-influenced Halloween single "Haunt Me Out", released in October 2009, The Lovely Eggs resurfaced in 2011 with their second album, Cob Dominos, and the single "Don't Look At Me (I Don't Like it)"

“Look at her with her washing line smile. Look at him with his dog dirt eyes. Look at her with her rabbit spare teeth. Look at him with his dressing gown nose. Look at her with her cul de sac arms. Look at him with his wheelchair heart.”
