Club Fandango On A Tuesday At The Buffalo Bar As Of October 6th 2009!!!

Well we’ve finally gone and bloody sodding well bloody done it. After over eight years and more than 400 gigs Club Fandango has callously abandoned its neo-legendary Tuesday night residency at the Dublin Castle in Camden Town for pastures, and indeed venues, new. So with our battered backdrop safely stored in our Picachu backpacks we have hopped on the overground from Camden Town station and made our way to the sanctity of Highbury to re-launch our infamous Tuesday evening indie hoedowns at the Buffalo Bar.

Alternogig ironists may care to chuckle about the fact that Club Fandango will be taking over the slot recently vacated by Artrocker, themselves long-serving bastions on the Tuesday evening scene by virtue of their seven year stint at Highbury Corner. Fans of a nice bit of promoting topspin meanwhile may be delighted to observe that the opening night is a special evening for many reasons, and many of those reasons look something like this:

Club Fandango presents: “It’s Great When You Curate…Yeah!”

The Line-Up: THE TAMBORINES (live) + BLUE ON BLUE (live)

+ The Raveonettes (DJ set) + Hatcham Social (DJ set) + Princess Julia & Hanna Hanra (DJ Set) + DDJY (DJ set)

The Place: LONDON HIGHBURY BUFFALO BAR

(259 Upper Street, London N1 1RU. Tel: 020 7359 6191)

The Stardate: TUESDAY OCTOBER 6TH 2009

“It’s Great When You Curate…Yeah!” is a brand new fandango concept wherein a pop act whom Club Fandango loves very much is invited to put together a whole night of entertainment. And so it is that our opening salvo sees much loved scuzzpopsters THE RAVEONETTES take over the venue for the launch of their ace new album ‘In And Out Of Control’, released on fierce panda on October 5th.

The “It’s Great When You Curate…Yeah!” show is part of a hectic day of action for The Raveonettes: in the morning the tune-tastic twosome fly in from Mexico City, where they will have supported Depeche Mode the day before. Earlier in this evening they will be playing an acoustic instore set at Rough Trade East. And then for the full-on Buffalo Bar experience the dynamic Danish duo have not only chosen the bands and handpicked the DJs but they will be spinning some platters themselves as well as hosting a playback of the entire ace new album ‘In And Out Of Control’ in the middle of the night. NB THE RAVEONETTES WILL NOT BE PERFORMING LIVE THEMSELVES. But these people will be…

THE TAMBORINES (onstage 10.10pm) are buzzy fuzzed-up guitarpop beasts who’ve been ruffling feathers on the London underground all year, not least with their strobe-crazed support to The Ruling Class at the 100 Club in the summer.

BLUE ON BLUE (onstage 9.00pm) are a shadow in the dark, a mirage in the machine. Soft of vocal and bendy of effects pedals, their (mazzy) stars shine bright.

THE RAVEONETTES, panda labelmates HATCHAM SOCIAL, PIXZINE starlets Princess Julia and Hanna Hanra and esteemed Wrexham gigsters DON’T DIE JUST YET will all be providing the musical sustenance between and after the bands.
