The Truth: Club Panda is the fierce panda label’s very own gig-type hoedown which takes place at the Dublin Castle on the very first Tuesday of each and every month and features four bands who’ve rattled our cages over the past few days. And several of those bands sound a little bit like this…
LANGUAGE (onstage 10.15pm) are three men of mystery from North London who make flamboyant thrusting electro rock which might well sound a little bit like Bauhaus if they made thrustingly flamboyant electro rock soundtracks for, so they say, gay porn films (cf imminent single release ‘Techno’, out August 3rd).

THE WINCHELL RIOTS (onstage 9.30pm) are four intense young men from Oxford who make suitably spiralling epic guitar music with a glitchy undercurrent and an angsty edge and a pleasingly fierce demeanour.

THE CROOKES (onstage 8.45pm) are four cheery tykes from Sheffield who make bright-eyed and bushy-tailed shuffly indiepop which nods at Orange Juice and The Housemartins and Rumblestrips thanks to tip-top-tupperware tunes like ‘A Collier’s Wife’ and ‘By The Seine’ and ‘Yes, Yes We’re Magicians’, two of which will comprise a Too Pure Singles Club release any week now.

THE HOT MELTS (onstage 8.00pm) are four vibrant sorts from Liverpool who recently signed to Epitaph Records and who make ballsy, bolshy rawwwwkpop which thunders along very thunderously indeed.
