The Truth: The Heartbreaks consist of Matthew Whitehouse (vocals / guitar), Joseph Kondras (drums), Ryan Wallace (guitar) and Deaks (bass). Now based in Manchester the quartet will release new single I Didn't Think It Would Hurt To Think Of You on 2nd August through fierce panda imprint Giant Haystacks.

The Heartbreaks formed in Morecambe in May 2009 having bonded over their shared passions of Motown, bittersweet romance and the English seaside. All in their early 20s yet with older, more thoughtful heads on their young shoulders, they also shared the same dream, to create a band that really meant something to people.

"Morecambe totally sums up the spirit of this band," explains singer Matthew Whitehouse. "There's a romance to small seaside towns like Morecambe which is just so essentially British. There's a sort of faded grandeur to it; it's tacky and it's tragic, yet at the same time, there's a real beauty to it. That mix of beauty and melancholy is at the core of all our songs."

In only a year, The Heartbreaks have stolen hearts and set pulses racing with their determinedly romantic take on British (new) pop culture. Last year they won the Manchester Evening News award for Best New Band and fans already include DJ Steve Lamacq and Johnny Marr. At the start of 2010 their Jealous, Don't You Know track appeared on fierce panda's Zip It Up EP, and barely a fortnight later their Liar, My Dear single was released on Seven Sevens. They are currently short listed by NME, along with only 4 other bands, to open this year's Lovebox Festival.

I Didn't Think It would Hurt To Think Of You is a mournful yet uplifting song that is alternative pop at it's finest. Featuring the bands trademark jangly guitars, beautifully wrought lyricism and singer Matthews addictive croon, it has multiple killer hooks and a chorus that is so irresistible you can't, and won't want to, get it out of your head. I Didn't Think It Would Hurt To Think Of You is also the very first release on Giant Haystacks Records, which is a subsidiary of Label Fandango, which in itself is a spin-off from fierce panda, which makes it an impimprint, we reckon.
