The Rakes
The Rakes are an impossibly spindly framed quartet hailing from the rented rooms of East London who create thrillingly angular art punk noise but with great tunes to boot. The machine is hotting up. Singer Alan Donohoe - Ian Curtis and Tony Hancock on happy pills - is now officially cool (it said so in the NME) and their debut album has been recorded with so-hot-right-now producer Paul Epworth (also cool). This is to follow well-received indie single '22 Grand Job' and 'Strasbourg', preceeded by single no. 3 ('Retreat', due in April). The video was shot outside The Old Blue Last pub in Shoreditch, fact fans.
