The Silent League
The Silent League ** Fandango teams up this month with the label Something In Construction, to bring you Labelled With Love #5 ** Something In Construction celebrates nothing in particular with a one-off show at The Borderline. A variety of fine acts for your pleasure and some one-off collaborations on the night. Headlining are Brooklyn's Silent League, over for their 4th UK tour. In support are London's glamtastic duo Christiansilva, Akira The Don doing something or other, a special solo appearance from our friend Emmy The Great and some Secret Special Guests. Also DJing from the SIC unSoundsystem. There is a free label sampler, entitled "Construction Time Again?" for everyone, with tracks from Loney Dear vs CSS, Other Passengers, Damn Arms, Silent League and several more. Seven more, in fact. ** THE SILENT LEAGUE are from New York and led by Justin Russo who was the keyboardist with Mercury Rev on their chamber pop masterpiece 'Deserters Songs' - you know the one about Moles digging Holes. Anyway as he is perfectly allowed to rip himself off and clone that albums shimmering celestial glory he had a new album out entitled 'The Orchestra, Sadly, Has Refused' and by all accounts it's just as good as 'Deserters Songs' and had the critics just as excited. The Silent League's second album, 'Of Stars And Other Somebodies', is out June 18th.
