The 18 Carat Love Affair
The 18 Carat Love Affair are, according to Time Out, "Bouncy and oh so slightly music hall-toned electro popsters" playing "vaudeville-drama folk". They believe this to be a fair assessment. Comprising of - amongst others - former 586 singing songwriter Steven Horry and Subliminal Girl Jim Rhesus, the band formed in late 2008 after a protracted argument as to who the best member of Girls Aloud is. They recorded their first demo in January 2009, the lead track of which was quickly played by John Kennedy on XFM's X-Posure and made it's way on to DJ playlists as far afield as Budapest. They have just completed a five track EP that you can get a copy of by either by download via their mailing list or by asking them nicely for a CD when you see them next.
