Calories formed in the hot, wet mid-summer of 2008 however John, Tom and Pete have been recording and playing together in various bands and bedroom projects since their early teens - notably, Birmingham quartet Distophia and the shorter-lived Antlers. Now we have Calories, a mix of crashing guitars and killer hooks that keeps each song pounding through your brain for days. 'Adventuring' was recorded in just five days after the band’s third show and possesses the urgency one would expect from such beginnings. Calories are more a band of brothers than bandmates; they collectively write, play and sing each song - swapping instruments from track to track during writing and recording. Deftly produced, ‘Adventuring’ is the sum of eclectic musical influence: Shudder To Think, Blonde Redhead, Polvo, Don Caballero and Liars are all in the melting pot.
