Lukestar
Lukestar have a pop sound which is an otherworldly one; seemingly taking as much inspiration from Mediaeval mythical creatures as they do from power-math-rock. Saturated with towering vocals that often exceed the normal male range, hook after marvelous hook, and drumming so fluid, present, and masterful that it is as fascinating to listen to as the vocal and guitar work. J??rgen, Yngve, Marius, Torbj??rn and Truls in the eternally evangelizing collective Lukestar can be recognized by their slightly inappropriate facial hair and glowing expressions, which can only result from complete salvation or deep intoxication. The band started out in 2004 with the debut album “Alpine Unit”. This resulted in tours in Great Britain, Germany, Spain and Scandinavia. Right around New Years 2006, the five guys disappeared without a trace from Oslo’s surface for three weeks, before suddenly reemerging with a new incarnation of the band – the album “Lake Toba”. Lukestar’s new style can be compared to Blonde Redhead or old Weezer, and is based on sonic guitars, energetic drumming and Truls´ ethereal, dreamy power falsetto. The first single “White Shade” was released in Norway October 2007 and was picked up right away by Norwegian national radio. It got play listed for more than 8 weeks while the second single from the album “The Shade You Hide” got play listed on Norwegian national radio for more than 18 weeks. “Lake Toba” has received rave reviews from most Norwegian major newspapers and magazines and the album has sold more than 4500 copies in a country where you receive your gold album with a sale of 15.000 albums. Lukestar´s stunning album will be released in Europe during September 2008, and in the US and Canada in October 2008. Touring in mainland Europe and US during October/November will follow the release. "Lake Toba" is everything that rock record with serious pop sensibility should be. Lukestar's newest effort is in good position to be one of the best album of 2008.” – 9/10 It´s a trap.com
