Witches
Witches are a six-piece rock band from Oxford. They combine trumpet, glockenspiel, accordian, harpsichord, analogue synth and anything else they can lay their hands on to create a rich and diverse sound. Their songs are wide-ranging in style, from intense guitars and mariachi trumpet, through to soft keys and melodic vocal lines. Above all, Witches are about the songs, which are aimed at anyone and everyone. People often find Witches hard to describe, however they have been known to sound like a cross between Sparklehorse, The Flaming Lips, Low, and Yo La Tengo. This year the band has played some of their biggest gigs to date, including a headline set at Riverside 2008 and supporting Sugababes at Trinity College Ball. In August Witches will be heading out to Poland to play their first session for Radio Gdansk. The band will then be returning to the studio to begin work on their second album which they aim to release next year.
