Crazy Arm
Crazy Arm are a Plymouth four-piece the versatile, country/punk/rock lovechild that arose from two of the city‚Äö?Ñ?¥s popular bands, NoComply and The Once Over Twice forming in May 2005. It wasn‚Äö?Ñ?¥t until their respective bands split up a year later that they became a more serious concern for all involved. With the later addition of fourth member, Dan Couling, Crazy Arm has developed a distinct and progressive style, shot through with a healthy dose of grass-roots politics. Pitched somewhere between the dark twang of 16 Horsepower, the punk thrust of Fugazi and Hot Water Music, the crunchy pop of Ted Leo and the protest songs of Dick Gaughan, the band rely chiefly on folk/country-style open tunings and slide guitar to evoke untypical and universal moods and styles. They have completed three UK tours within the past year, playing and striking up friendships with the likes of Sonic Boom Six, Failsafe, Howards Alias, Capdown, The Cut Ups, Random Hand, Intro5pect and Lucero, and are currently recording twelve songs for debut album, ‚Äö?Ñ?¥Born To Ruin‚Äö?Ñ?¥, at PMC Studios in Plymouth. A self-produced, independent, six-song EP, ‚Äö?Ñ?¥Cross Country‚Äö?Ñ?¥, is available through their myspace. [Photo: Steve Mcusker]
