Kat Flint
Kat Flint is the child of research scientists and the palest individual ever to be born in Barbados, was raised in the chilly northern climes of Aberdeen and has recently moved to London from Edinburgh where she played on the city's vibrant acoustic scene with her band gingergreen for a tea-and-beer-fuelled four years, topping the citywide poll of Edinburgh's favourite acoustic acts in 2004 and playing to a crowd of thousands (including small dancing children) in Princes Street Gardens during the Edinburgh Festival. She also enjoyed a six-month stint as random percussionist and token girl with Latin-tinged folksters Scuff, and was an original member of the Edinburgh Sound Collective, a great group of extremely talented songwriters and musicians which is still ticking along nicely up north. Kat writes lyrics about junkyard prostitutes, life in the fearsome crowd and the fact that your lover is 72.8% water. She was told once that she's pretty good on guitar 'for a girl' ('I wasn't sure if that was a compliment') and is an active campaigner against teenage angst and histrionics in music. Her debut release, 'The Secret Boy's Club EP' is out now following on the back of a very successful 16 date UK tour with Cara Dillon (Rough Trade).
