Cherry Ghost
Cherry Ghost is an English alternative/acoustic band led by Simon Aldred. Cherry Ghost began in Bolton in 2005, first as an alias for Simon as a solo artist, then slowly morphing into a full band. Their debut album, Thirst for Romance, was released in July 2007 and entered the UK Album Charts at #7. The band has supported Amy Winehouse, Polytechnic, Fields, Snow Patrol, The Spinto Band, and Crowded House, and was handpicked by Manic Street Preachers as their support band for their December 2007 tour. James Manics said that 'Thirst for Romance' was his favourite album of 2007. In September 2007, Cherry Ghost was nominated for "best new act" in the 2007 Q Awards. In 2008, Cherry Ghost won an Ivor Novello Award for "People Help the People" in the category of Best Contemporary Song.
